Troubleshooting Wireless Audio Dropouts in Monaco Systems

Q: My audio keeps dropping out. How do I start troubleshooting?

A: The first step to fixing audio dropouts is identifying the scope of the problem. You need to determine whether only one individual speaker is dropping out, or if the entire system (all speakers) is losing connection at the same time.

Q: Only ONE speaker is dropping out. Is it a faulty speaker or wireless interference?

A: You can easily figure this out by performing a quick "Channel Swap" test in your Platin app:

  1. Open the app and temporarily swap the audio channel of the problematic speaker with a channel that is working perfectly (for example, swap the Left Surround with the Right Surround).

  2. Listen to the system playing audio.

  • If the dropout follows the speaker: If the same physical speaker continues to drop out on the new channel, it indicates a hardware issue with that specific unit.

  • If the dropout stays in the same location: If the new speaker placed in that spot starts dropping out, the hardware is fine. The issue is wireless interference or signal blocking in that specific physical location.

Q: How do I fix a location-based interference issue for a single speaker?

A: Ensure there is a minimum distance of at least 1 meter (approx. 3 feet) between the WiSA Transmitter (TX) and the speaker. Make sure the speaker is not blocked by large metal objects or dense furniture that could shield the wireless signal.

Q: All of my speakers are dropping out at the same time. What should I do?

A: If the entire system drops out simultaneously (often accompanied by a flashing red light on your transmitter), the most common culprit is 5GHz Wi-Fi RF interference from your home router.

To resolve this, force the devices to select non-overlapping wireless channels by rebooting them in this specific order:

  1. Power down your Wi-Fi router and unplug the WiSA Transmitter.

  2. Plug the WiSA Transmitter back into power first. Wait 10 seconds for it to fully boot up and lock onto a clear 5GHz frequency.

  3. Plug your Wi-Fi router back in. As the router boots up, it will detect the transmitter and automatically select a different Wi-Fi channel that does not cause interference.

Q: Are there any other setup tips to prevent system-wide dropouts?

A: Yes. To ensure a rock-solid connection, follow these best practices for your WiSA Transmitter:

  • Router Distance: Keep your Wi-Fi router or mesh access points as far away from the WiSA transmitter as possible (at least 10 feet / 3 meters is recommended). Avoid placing the router and transmitter on the same horizontal plane.

  • Clear Line of Sight: Do not place the transmitter inside a closed media cabinet, behind a wall, or near heavy electronics that cause signal shielding.

  • Proper Power: Always use the provided USB power supply for the transmitter to ensure it receives adequate and consistent power.

If all of these steps above do not fix your issue, please contact us with as much infor as possible, including:

  • SoundSend MCU version
  • Your general location (US, Canada, Germany, etc.)
  • Speaker Make/Model(s) #
  • TV Make/Model #
  • Router + Access point(s) Make/Model(s)#
  • List of all connected HDMI devices to the TV
  • A movie illustrating when the activity of the SoundSend and the dropouts occur is always helpful.

We hope this guide helps solve your issues and you can continue having an enjoyable audio experience.
