Why Don't My Speakers Enter Sleep Mode Immediately After the Hub Enters Standby?

You put your Surround Hub or Surround Hub X into standby mode (or shut it down), but your speakers (such as the Dynaudio Focus 30 or other WiSA-certified speakers) still indicate they are connected to the Hub and do not immediately go into sleep or standby mode themselves. You might feel confused. 

How the Standby Logic Works
To understand why this happens, it helps to know how the Hub and your speakers communicate:

• The Transmitter and Receiver: The Surround Hub acts as a WiSA transmitter, while your speakers act as WiSA receivers.
• The "Awake" Signal: As long as the Surround Hub is active, it continuously outputs a "clock carrier" signal to the speakers. This continuous signal is what tells the speakers to stay powered ON and ready to play audio.
• Entering Standby: When the Surround Hub into standby, it immediately shuts down this carrier signal. Typically, the hub will enter Automatic Standby mode after 20minutes without audio signal.

Why Your Speakers Stay On Temporarily
Once the Surround Hub stops sending the signal, it is up to the speakers to initiate their own automatic standby sequence.

The time it takes for a speaker to enter standby depends entirely on how the specific speaker manufacturer designed it. The Hub does not force the speakers to power down instantly; it simply drops the connection, triggering the speaker's internal timer.

For example: Many of our own WiSA speakers are designed to start a 20-minute timer the moment the Surround Hub enters standby. The speakers will remain awake for those 20 minutes before finally entering standby mode on their own. Other brands or models may have different timer durations.

What You Should Do
If your speakers do not turn off immediately after the Hub does:

Wait: Give the system 20 to 30 minutes to see if the speakers enter standby automatically once their internal timer runs out.

Check the Speaker Manual: If the speakers never enter standby, or you want to know the exact duration of the standby timer, please refer to the user manual provided by your speaker's manufacturer, as this behavior is controlled on the speaker end.
